About Us
The ACNC will endeavour to achieve the following over the next five years:
Education:
- Determine the minimum content relating to cardiovascular relating to cardiovascular disease and asscociated nursing practice for undergraduate nursing programmes.
- Support the continued development of post-graduate nursing programmes that best equip nurses to effectively manage cardiovascular disease.
- Organise an annual conference that provides state-of-the-art educational updates in relation to cardiovascular disease and nursing management.
Research:
- Support cardiovascular nursing research via mentorship programmes, scholarships and collaborative research projects.
- Develop and support research projects that expand the clinical role of cardiovascular nurses and/or substantiate the benefits of pre-existing practices/roles in a systematic and valid manner.
- Publish a journal that provides a forum for research projects.
Clinical Practice:
- Develop clinical guidelines to guide effective clinical practice.
- Apply minimum standards to evaluate the value of pre-existing and new services predominantly managed by or applied by cardiovascular nurses.
- Advocate for the expansion of the clinical role for nurses where appropriate.
Public Health Policy and Funding:
- Lobby for increasing funding to support the role of cardiovascular nurses (including remuneration rates and employment conditions).
- Advocate for national standards in managing cardiovascular disease.
- Provide representation to key organisations to ensure that the views and needs of cardiovascular nurses are considered.
The ACNC is a member of the Coalition of National Nursing Organisations (CoNNOs).
The ACNC is affilliated with The College of Nursing, providing reciprical benefits for members of both organisations.
